BtS Radio: Understanding Immigration (02/25/15)
With at least 11 million undocumented people currently residing in the United States and more arriving every day, no one argues that immigration is a critical public policy concern. However, significant conflicts over how to fix the problem render potential solutions almost mute. Joining Between the Synapse to provide an understanding of this debate, including President Obama’s November 2014 Executive Order and the very recent injunction issues to prevent its enactment is noted immigration attorney and former Houston City Council member Gordon Quan.

Quan Law Group managing partner Gordon J. Quan is a nationally recognized immigration lawyer with over 30 years’ experience helping clients with both complex and ordinary immigration problems. He has served as chair of the Texas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and as a member of the national board of governors of that group. He was a founding member, and past chair, of the Texas State Bar Association’s Immigration Section and instrumental in the City of Houston’s creation of an Office for Immigration and Refugee Affairs.
In 1999, Mr. Quan was elected as the first Asian-American to serve as an “at large” member of the Houston City Council. In 2002, he was selected by the Mayor and Council of Houston to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. He also has served as President of the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials of the National League of Cities.
