The Washington Post just reported that “a senior U.S. diplomat held a rare bilateral meeting Thursday with his Iranian counterpart, and officials said Iran agreed to further talks with six major powers on its nuclear program.” Sounds promising? I wish.
It’s this Persian modus operandi that has allowed Iran to develop its nuclear capability over the past decade. A cynical version of high school drama where one refuses to talk to get attention, then talks and appears interested, and then strings the other along all the while wooing another. The problem here is that the other is a nuclear bomb.
The West must adhere to the two month deadline set forth at the G20 in Pittsburg. “Just talk” cannot substitute for deweaponization of nuclear technology.
