Better Late than Never … The Avett Brothers

I and Love and You

Had heard The Avett Brothers a few times on SAT radio, and finally thought to purchase an album (is that still the correct nomenclature) on iTunes. Quite happy I did. Entitled, “I and Love and You” was  issued in 2009 as the group’s 6th full length album.   The Avett Brothers (yes, the two founders are really brothers) combines bluegrass, country, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock & roll, and even ragtime to create a sound described by the San Francisco Chronicle as having the, “heavy sadness of Townes Van Zandt, the light pop concision of Buddy Holly, the tuneful jangle of the Beatles, the raw energy of the Ramones.” Don’t know if all that’s true but glad I finally showed up at the party.
