7-Year Old Kid Signs Contract to play for Real Madrid

Now call me old-fashioned, but 7-year olds should not be signed to any kind of professional athletic contract regardless of sport. Nevertheless, Spain’s Real Madrid did just that by signing a 7-year-old soccer prodigy from Argentina. According to a Real Madrid Spokesman, Leonel Angel Coira will begin training in Spain on Sept. 6.

Why, you ask, would one of the best soccer clubs in the world, or any professional club really, sign a little kid? It’s a simple matter of keeping up with the Jones. Or in this case Real Madrid’s Spanish league rival
Atletico Madrid which is also seeking to sign a little kid.
